The trauma of Muhajirism remains a vivid and relevant part of Abkhaz society to this day. This is evidenced by the fact that in Sokhumi, the coastal area along the Black Sea is still referred to as the “Muhajirs’ Shore.” Furthermore, in 2010, a monument was erected to commemorate the tragedy of Muhajirism, depicting a man on horseback sinking into the sea, struggling for survival.

Internship paper by Andreas Halbig, a trainee at the Institute for the Study of Nationalism and Conflicts, titled:
“A Study of Two Initiatives in the Franco-German Reconciliation Process and Their Comparison with Current Civil Society Initiatives in the Georgian-Abkhaz and Georgian–South Ossetian Contexts.”

Organized by the Youth Initiative Network “The 16th Element,” a meeting was held at Frontline Georgia with young researchers working in the fields of peacebuilding and conflict studies.

The aim of the meeting was to provide a platform for young researchers interested in these fields to exchange perspectives, and to identify their needs and challenges.

As part of the project “Youth Peace Initiatives,” a public lecture was held on the topic “Georgian-Abkhaz Relations: An Analysis of Peace Policy in the Post-Independence Period.” The event was organized by the Youth Peace Network “The 16th Element” in collaboration with the Department of Social Sciences at Akaki Tsereteli State University.

Within the framework of the project “Youth Peace Initiatives” at the International Black Sea University, a screening and discussion of the documentary film “Generation Beyond Conflict” from the “16th Element” series was held.

The discussion addressed key topics such as peacebuilding, conflict transformation, and the problem of alienation between generations.
